Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island (PEI) is Canada's smallest province and is an extremely popular summer travel destination, making it well served by the hospitality industry.
However, things tend to book early for the summer months - we recommend making reservations for essentials like accommodations and car rentals early in the New Year.
We expect that many of our guests will take this opportunity to explore PEI. PEI Tourism provides many excellent resources to help!
Getting Around
PEI is a small, narrow, island province, only 300 km from tip to tip. But there are no real practical transit options, so having or hiring a car is essential.
Fortunately, Charlottetown is served by all the major car rental operators. Click here for a convenient list, with local contact information.
Arrive by Air
PEI is served by a great little airport (YYG) in the capital city, Charlottetown. During the summer, there are many daily flights from major Canadian cities like Halifax, Toronto, and Montreal, connecting it easily to the US and other international destinations.
Depending on where you are coming from, you may find a better flight arriving into Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) in Moncton, New Brunswick. Many destinations on PEI are approximately the same driving distance from Moncton as Charlottetown. But bear in mind you will need to drive across the Confederation Bridge to PEI, and you will be charged a toll when you leave.
Arrive by ROAD
Prince Edward Island is a popular destination for road-trippers, simple to navigate, with lots to see and do along the way. Most of our American friends will take the I-95 most of the way. Driving is a great choice, especially if you have time to spread it out over a couple of days.
PEI is well-served by RV-friendly parks and campgrounds, if that is your thing, and we can accommodate a few around the treehouse in Fortune Cove.
